We're Expecting...
All right. I've kept my secret long enough, I think. My mother-in-law spilled the beans anyway, in her comment on my previous post; I might as well get out with the news.
A while back, Kyle and I drove three hours south to meet with several different specialists. We'd been doing our research for a few weeks, and finally decided to take the plunge. Our lives, though exciting and joyful already, just seemed to be missing something--we were incomplete.
Since then, everything has changed around here--we've embarked on a journey that I never thought I would take. So new, so exciting...and honestly, I don't know how we didn't do it sooner.
No, I'm not with child.
Any guesses?
Here are a few hints:
Still confused about what has made my life complete?
Ahh...laundry has never been so thrilling. When we got them home and installed them (anyone in need of two cardboard boxes the size of a small palace?), it was like the whole world stopped. We plugged in the washer, turned it on, and a quietness washed over our house. Suddenly, nothing else mattered.
Slowly, Kyle reached out and pressed the play button (that's right--our new washer and dryer don't "start," they "play." Because it's such an amazing experience to watch--way better than any sci-fi I've ever seen.). We froze, entranced by its back-lit LED lights and sing-song chirp of turning on.
As it sprang into action, I could tell my life was about to change forever. "Ooh," I squealed with delight, "look what it's doing! There goes the water--oh my gosh, the steam! It really works..."
"It's amazing," Kyle said, awestruck. Then, like a proud new father, he made a show of filling up the soap compartment with our new liquid detergent and waiting as the washer decided what type of cycle we'd be using. That's right--it has a sensor. For sensing that sort of thing.
Seriously, I don't think any baby we could possibly produce would measure up to the twins.
You know what they say...firstborns are forever favoured. [I made that up.]
p.s. The twins are so beautiful that I've been inspired to make laundry day the highlight of my week. Hence the dryer sheets removed from the tacky bright orange Costco package and displayed lovingly in a wire basket. It's such a brilliant idea, I almost didn't share it.

they're gorgeous...and i don't just say that to everyone.
cherish your time with them now, because you know what they say...they won't stay this way forever. we've already been through two sets in our 5 short years of family life. *sigh* they just grow up so fast, you know.
oh camille! I am so envious! can you come watch my kids while i drive to canada? just to use your washer and dryer? i love that you chose red! they are beauties!
Millie,
These are so pretty! I'm excited for you.. How fun. I love the basket idea, too. It has inspired me to find a cute apothecary jar for my detergent so I can put it on my dryer. How do they work? Oh, and who won the contest?
That washer/dryer combo collectively looks like a Cadillac. But they probably aren't very eco-friendly, so you'll have to get rid of them. Sorry. Unless, of course, you really do hate Mother Gaia and wish for Her 'inconvenient' demise. And won't your dryer sheets' pungency be diminished by you leaving them out? I'm no dryer-sheet wizard, but...
They are RED!!! Oh camille, they are absolutely - what's a good word....there isnt a good enough adjective for what i want to say! But i LOVE them! Once i get a laundry room, i am going to copy a picture i found in a magazine...you put the powder detergent in those big "cookie jar" looking things from Ikea.... and derrick's question has me thinking, DOES leaving the dryer sheets out of the box ruin them in any way? I bet the room smells lovely tho!
Those are just the gems that I have been wishing upon my house. Ryan and I have decided (well, more he has decided) to wait to get the beauties until our old ones break. Our old ones were old 6 years ago when we got them. The washer leaks transmission fluid (who knew washers have transmission fluid), but darnit, they still run. Ryan gives me a hard time because he knows I wash our huge comforter in it just to try to make it break earlier, but nope. Why is it the things we want to last forever break, and the things we try to break last forever?
I'm glad you got red. Who knows if they will still be in style in 10 years, but then they will just be even more of a gem like the mustard yellow appliances all our parents purchased back in the days. Classics.
Happy Birthday to You Camille! Yes your Twins are just grand!

When I saw the first picture, I KNEW what it was. I want those so bad. I have been begging my hubby the last week or so to get these with tax money! Congrats on your new toys!!
I'm sooooooooooo jealous! Congrats!
Camille, I would be honored if you penciled me in for one of the days on your visit back to AZ. My sister in law doesnt work at Queens Bakery anymore (longgggg story) but it's still there and super cute and i'd more than love to go there with you!
Also, thanks for the congrats. We wont move to Phoenix if jared makes it in...i'd freak out being home alone there. As long as he still lives in Maricopa County, he's good. Our new apt is in Chandler, just right down off the 202...so it should be an easy trip for him to get into work.
I'm so glad you read my blog - jared did know that i had one for a long time, but he didnt really care. I think he only just barely memorized the address to it. He has a forum or something that he writes in too, that i dont follow or read....so it makes us kind of even.
honestly, i hope those stupid anonymous people dont get to you...because their comments drive ME nuts FOR you! Keep writing - whatever you want. Not just what you think these random people will like.
love you lots and lots..

Hey, hey! you seriously got me there! I was excited that you were having kids! haha well congrats on the washing machines. ps- have you made up your mind on reposting mayberry? pss- i'm not a mean anonymous person, i just don't have a blog:)
I have the same ones {in white}. I love them. Love. They make doing the laundry soo much better. My favorite thing is watching the water slowly trickle in and then it starts spinning. It's like a mini-laundromat in your house - only better because there aren't creepy people sitting around.
Listen, you've got to try this liquid fabric softener- Downy Pure Essentials: Chamomile & Lemon Verbena- it makes everything smell amazing.
Camille We just got a new washer and dryer too! The baring on our last washer caused our washer to sound like we were holding on to the wing of plane while flying through the air. We could watch movies while it was on because the volume didnt go loud enough. OUr new ones though... AMAZING! Quietness sweeps our house now while the laundry is going. Who ever thought we would be drooling over our new washers and dryers?
Love the red. We invested in some nice ones a year or so ago when our washer which I believe was like from the 50's (came with the house) died, and I have loved them since. It makes laundry so much more pleasurable to do as you have discovered by now especially now that I am doing tons with this new baby that spits up on everything he wears and me too. jaycie was never a spit up baby, i can count on one hand how many times she spit up, but this guy, at least once a day which I'm sure some moms would scoff at and say, what that is nothing, but compared to Jaycie, yes it is. Anyways, now that I am boring/grossing you with my spit up I will stop. Back to the washers,
enjoy I am excited for you 2!
Okay, you hold on to those until I can come pick them up.
Thanks for babysitting for me.
