Anger Management Issues

I flipped off the sky today. Gave it the good ol' middle finger.

Because it's perfectly gray--so much so that it completely devours the horizon. Does that even register in your heads, my Arizona friends? Imagine if you can: snow on the ground, thickly blanketing every other colour in the world with white. Then, take your bright blue cheerful sky and turn it the exact same hue as the stark white ground. Now get in your imaginary car (make it a Benz--no...better make it something with 4 wheel drive), and travel as far as it takes for the buildings and mountains to disappear. Go somewhere flat. Somewhere where the line between the sky and the ground is perfectly straight. Only instead of seeing bright cheerful blue on top and brown scrubby desert dirt on bottom...all you see is a drab, grayish white.

You never can know how much a horizon means to you until it gets taken.

Flipping off the sky didn't change my situation. It didn't change the fact that it's 22 degrees below freezing. It didn't stop the snow from flurrying into my car as soon as I opened the door in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Giving the sky the finger didn't help at all. But short of screaming every foul, explicit word I know--with my head thrown back, eyes squeezed shut, arms raised and fists clenched into threatening fists--it's all I could do.

It made me feel better.

I feel your pain! I hate cold weather and when the sky is gray it is even worse. It feels clastraphobic. I endured 7 long years of cold/snow/gray skies (not to mention my time in Rexburg) and I'm so glad that time is over. I love the sunny blue sky I wake up to almost everyday in Arizona. "-22 degrees"- that's worse than a swear word in my book.

I love the new music. Who is the first commenter that LIKES grey skies? They should be the new torture technique for the army.
I am going to start treating the gray skies like you do. Maybe the two of us teaming up, can make some changes.

Seriously, who loves grayness?!? Minus it being MUCH colder where you are, compared to Michigan, I totally sympathize (and am grateful I don't have to experience 22 below). I think my husband is beginning to understand how I found the desert beautiful. Oh, I miss the mountains.

My solution - bright happy colors on all the walls in my house, eventually. I spend the majority of my day in my son's room, which is painted a blue that reminds me of the sky in Arizona on a warm sunny day with not a cloud in sight. I think that has been a big part of me keeping my sanity this winter. We plan to paint our daughter's room a bright, spring shade of purple.

This, and your sweet music selections, is what helps me feel better.

You are such a wonderful writer. Have I told you that lately...I think I did last week. :)
If you love your little nephew so much it will astound you how much more you will love your own child.
I think it is interesting that so many people have asked you to babysit. I always thought that was for the young teenager girls to do.
The cookies were delicious! even the snickerdoodles although I totally know what you were talking about, when something doesn't turn out how you want it too you don't want to give it away and let them think that these are the best you can do, when they aren't.
I agree with you. I'm sick of this weather although it hasn't been as bad for me because I am quite content to just stay inside anyways with this new little boy. So I guess I am lucky to have him when I did. Anyways...

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I WILL NOT BE VISITING FOR A LONG TIME....TOO DAMN COLD!!!!!!!

I will never forget when you were a baby and we lived in Polacca. How I hated the dismal weather. One day I went out in short sleeved shirt and no shoes and screamed at the sky. I could only stand it for 74 seconds but I felt better after.

It was the very next day that I had you in my arms and was trying to enter the car from the Keams Canyon Trading Post. I started to slide on the ice and knew I was going to fall. I did the splits and fell flat on my butt and right knee to keep you from falling down. You were safe in my arms---I wouldn't let MR. GRUMPY Skies and bad weather hurt my baby Millie. Perhaps that is why my knee is so bad now---oh, the sacrifices we make for our offspring!!¡

What we need is a job Kyle can do in AZ during the bitter winters and one that he can do in CANADA in the gorgeous summers.

Adell and Clint and BABY P helped put up the shelves and clean the garage. We need 2 more and A suggested we buy them so that you and Kyle can have fun in the garage when you come.

Baby P. peed on me today because there were no more diapers and I put a cloth one on him and then turned on the vacuum. That vacuum made the warm pee come right out onto my leg---He misses you. He is now labeled "SPECIAL NEEDS" along with "HIGH MAINTAINENCE."

WE NEED T0 KNOW WHEN YOU'RE COMING so we can get Hello DOlly tickets at Broadway Palms.

LOVE,
Granmamamamamamamam

Millie,

All I can say is I am so, so, so very sorry. I cannot even fathom type of weather. Unreal.

So this is in response to your comment on my blog and I don't have your e-mail to answer your question so here's a comment! First of all, thank you for the sweet compliments! Sometimes I feel like I keep a blog just for someone other than my husband to tell me good job on stuff. Second, the paper bird does nothing but sit on the shelf and make me happy every time I look at it. It is its whole function. It is one of the easier little paper sculptures and you just print it off here http://www.epson.com.sg/ideas/papercraft/animal.htm#owl. You should make it. Third, I'm glad you flipped off the sky.
